This is my first post, so it better be a good one right?! :)
I come from a very creative family. My father is a talented painter and sculptor and some of my earliest memories are of him painting on the deck of our house at the beach. My mother has been quilting for over a decade now and has turned my old bedroom into her sewing room! My parents share a strong passion for the arts, visting art galleries all over Australia and the world. Their home is filled with books on every artist you could possibly imagine. My husband's hobby is painting 40K and WarMachine models and playing both games. So it isn't surprising that I also have a very strong creative side.
I first discovered my creative side during art classes in high school. Throughout I focused mainly on painting using acrylic paints of pretty much any surface. I tended towards the abstract as replicating reality didn't appeal. I particularly admired the work of Victor Vasarley and created a similar piece to the one pictured below during my final year.

A few years into my university career I took up beading and began creating necklaces, bracelets and earrings. I was so passionate and inspired that my collection of handmade jewellery grew ridiculously large! I still enjoy making my own jewellery from all types or beads and love that I can knock something up to match an outfit on the spur of the moment before heading out. I always find a handmade necklace or set of earrings is a fantastic gift for friends and family.
I have recently had my first child, a gorgeous little boy named Alexander, and am enjoying the fun and chaos of being a mother!

It was early on it Alex's life that I decided to open my first online store at www.etsy.com. I had developed my addiction to browsing and shopping on etsy long before and had always toyed with the idea of opening a shop. Being on leave from work and being lucky enough to have an easy going baby, I decided the time was right to take the plunge and open a store. Around the same time I had begun to experiment with button making and found it was a fabulous way to showcase all of the gorgeous fabric that I had accumulated. The first items for sale in my etsy store are all made from metal 'do it yourself' fabric covered buttons.

Not long after opening EverRose Creations on etsy.com, I discovered the Australian handmade website, www.madeit.com.au. I had gone to many of the first Handmade Markets held in Canberra and was excited to see that a handmade market website has been set up for Australian handmade creations. I quickly decided to also open an EverRose Creations store here too. Along with jewellery and wares created using 'do it yourself' fabric covered buttons I also included some baby bibs I had made using a hand drawn template and some of the cute children's fabrics I had.

Check back soon to see what is currently inspiring me and what I have been creating recently!
