What I have been up too lately

I have recently started playing around with a new material, moving on from fabric, buttons and enamel flowers for the moment. I still LOVE all kinds of fabric and imagining the cute things I could make with them, including my button jewellery, but I am now OBSESSED with something else!

I have rediscovered the fun that can be had playing and creating with polymer clay.

I remember playing with FIMO and Sculpey polymer clays as a kid and loving the fact that, unlike many other types of clay, they can be fired in the oven at home.

I have encorporated some of my button making supplies and the metal washers I had been playing around with previously into my new jewellery and I am really enjoying experimenting with polymer clay and the results I am getting.

I have been gone too long!

Wow, I have been a bit slack lately and not posted anything for some time :( I could blame it on a number of things, like having a very energetic 7 month old, but really I have just been lazy!

If you have visited the "shop" tag of my blog you will see I have two stores, one on etsy.com and another on madeit.com.au which is an Australian handmade website. One of my items was featured in the madeit finds email today which had a Babushka theme and it got me thinking again about how much I love all things Babushka! So I thought I would browse etsy.com and see what other great Babushka items are out there!

Pretty Matryoshka doll necklace

I love all things laser cut and these are no exception! I love the rabbit too, such a great way to photograph an item!

Toddler Messenger Bag Babushka Delight

I really love this bag, if I didn't already have a bag for all my baby's stuff I would be snapping this one up!

Babushka Doll Red Acrylic Brooch - from Russia with love

More evidence of my love of laser cut goodies! I am returning to work soon and might have to grab one of these brooches to brighten up my first day away from my little man.

Matryoshka Babushka Russian doll onesie

I really hope that my next bub is a little girl so I can dress her in a cute onesie like this!

If you love any of these items as much as I do and want to snap it up before someone else does just click on the name of the store below each item and it will take you straight to it on etsy.com

I have decided to include a page here on my blog for my non-craft related ramblings. I freely admit that I am a highly opinionated, cynical, sarcastic woman! If you follow me on Twitter this will become evident very quickly! (rosie4583 by the way ;) )

Although I intend my blog to be primarily for my love of all things crafty and handmade, there are times when I feel like expressing a non-craft opinion!

A morning of browsing and adding to my wishlist!

While my little bub has his morning nap on this crisp and foggy Sunday morning I don't really want to do anything else except browse my favourite handmade website, Etsy.com.

My search term of choice this morning? "Dandelion".

I have done this search many a time, there is just something about dandelions that I love. Their softness and subtleness and the simpleness of their design. So I thought I would share some of my finds with you.

In typical style, I started this post this morning and am now only publishing it at 7:00pm!

The beginning........

This is my first post, so it better be a good one right?! :)

I come from a very creative family. My father is a talented painter and sculptor and some of my earliest memories are of him painting on the deck of our house at the beach. My mother has been quilting for over a decade now and has turned my old bedroom into her sewing room! My parents share a strong passion for the arts, visting art galleries all over Australia and the world. Their home is filled with books on every artist you could possibly imagine. My husband's hobby is painting 40K and WarMachine models and playing both games. So it isn't surprising that I also have a very strong creative side.

I first discovered my creative side during art classes in high school. Throughout I focused mainly on painting using acrylic paints of pretty much any surface. I tended towards the abstract as replicating reality didn't appeal. I particularly admired the work of Victor Vasarley and created a similar piece to the one pictured below during my final year.

A few years into my university career I took up beading and began creating necklaces, bracelets and earrings. I was so passionate and inspired that my collection of handmade jewellery grew ridiculously large! I still enjoy making my own jewellery from all types or beads and love that I can knock something up to match an outfit on the spur of the moment before heading out. I always find a handmade necklace or set of earrings is a fantastic gift for friends and family.

I have recently had my first child, a gorgeous little boy named Alexander, and am enjoying the fun and chaos of being a mother!

It was early on it Alex's life that I decided to open my first online store at www.etsy.com. I had developed my addiction to browsing and shopping on etsy long before and had always toyed with the idea of opening a shop. Being on leave from work and being lucky enough to have an easy going baby, I decided the time was right to take the plunge and open a store. Around the same time I had begun to experiment with button making and found it was a fabulous way to showcase all of the gorgeous fabric that I had accumulated. The first items for sale in my etsy store are all made from metal 'do it yourself' fabric covered buttons.

Not long after opening EverRose Creations on etsy.com, I discovered the Australian handmade website, www.madeit.com.au. I had gone to many of the first Handmade Markets held in Canberra and was excited to see that a handmade market website has been set up for Australian handmade creations. I quickly decided to also open an EverRose Creations store here too. Along with jewellery and wares created using 'do it yourself' fabric covered buttons I also included some baby bibs I had made using a hand drawn template and some of the cute children's fabrics I had.

Check back soon to see what is currently inspiring me and what I have been creating recently!
